Early Childhood Programs & Services

The following programs are provided for pre-school children and parents:

These programs focus on providing educationally enriched environments especially designed to help pre-school children develop socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually. We believe that positive experiences in early childhood promote healthy development through the later stages of life.

Woodland Nursery School

A licensed, non-profit child care centre providing separate morning and afternoon programs for children from 2½ to 5 years of age. Subsidized spaces and transportation are available.

Children participate in creative arts, literature experiences, music, cooking and computer time. Nutritious snacks are provided. In addition, field trips to special places of interest give the children the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

Parent/Caregiver/Child Drop-in Centres

A stimulating environment and nutritious snacks for children from birth to five years. A relaxed, sociable atmosphere for caregivers, plus information, counselling, and advocacy from a Child and Family Resource Worker.

The drop-in centres are available every week between September and June at

Birchmount-St. Clair on

  • Tuesday mornings
  • Wednesday afternoons
  • Thursday mornings
  • Friday afternoons

and at 1 Fir Valley Court on

  • Monday afternoons
  • Tuesday evenings

Parenting Information

Join with other parents in our Parent-Child Mother Goose Program, Growing Healthy Together Pre-natal Program, Healthiest Babies Possible Pre-natal Program, Baby Buddies, Nobody's Perfect Parenting Program, Beyond the Basics Parenting Group, nutrition program/workshops and parent information sessions.
